DESTA Black Youth Network
At Commetta, we’re passionate about serving the global community & we know that positive social change must start in our own backyard. That’s why we donate our services to the DESTA Black Youth Network in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest where Commetta’s headquarters are located.
Since 2006, DESTA has spearheaded a holistic approach to improving the lives of marginalized youths aged 18 to 25. The organization provides mentorship, tutoring, mental-health programs, legal counselling & other services to support young people with big dreams in the areas of Employability, Education & Entrepreneurship. Many DESTA graduates have gone on to found businesses in and around Montreal & have become DESTA volunteers themselves in order to help other young people overcome poverty, trauma & build successful lives & careers.
The Commetta team started offering coaching & marketing support for DESTA Fest, the organization’s annual fundraising gala. Since the event’s founding in 2008, the gala has raised more than $160,000 to support DESTA programs & initiatives throughout the year. Our donations have taken the form of time & expertise to help produce graphics, newsletters, social-media content & more in support of the event.
Fostering an entrepreneurial spirit among young people is one of DESTA’s primary objectives, which is what inspired Commetta to get involved. “This organization in our headquarters city helps to provide young people with more opportunities & we’re proud to help support the next generation of Canadian entrepreneurs,” says Commetta Founder & CEO Natalie Riviere. “At Commetta, education & equal opportunities are among our core values.”
